DYNATREAD™ Adaptive Tread Technology

A defining feature of the METZELER SPORTEC™ 01 is Metzeler's patented DYNATREAD™ technology. This adaptive tread design changes its behaviour according to the riding conditions and forces acting on the tyre.

At lower speeds, the tread grooves remain open beneath the contact patch. This allows efficient water evacuation, promotes tread mobility and helps the tyre warm up quickly.

As riding pace and loads increase, particularly during hard braking and acceleration, the grooves dynamically compress. This increases the effective contact patch and lateral grip, allowing the SPORTEC™ 01 to deliver increasingly sporty performance as the motorcycle is pushed harder.

During braking, the front tyre's grooves compress to improve stability and steering precision. Under acceleration, the grooves on both front and rear tyres compress to maximise grip and traction.

Supersport Tread Design

The SPORTEC™ 01 features a distinctive, unified tread pattern shared by the front and rear tyres. This symmetrical design contributes to a balanced and predictable riding experience, while the groove layout is engineered to support both wet-weather performance and high-load sporty riding.

High-Silica Dual-Compound Technology

The SPORTEC™ 01 uses different compound layouts at the front and rear to balance stability, grip and traction across the tyre's operating range.

Front Tyre Compound

The front tyre uses a high-silica dual-compound configuration, divided evenly across the tread:

• 33% centre

• 33% left shoulder

• 33% right shoulder

This hypersport-oriented compound layout is designed to provide consistent grip from upright riding through to deep lean angles and across a broad range of temperatures and riding conditions.

A carbon-black base layer beneath the tread further contributes to braking stability and a predictable, confidence-inspiring front-end feel.

Rear Tyre Compound

The rear tyre uses a high-silica dual-compound configuration consisting of:

• 20% centre compound

• 40% left shoulder

• 40% right shoulder

The centre compound is more rigid and has lower hysteresis, helping provide stability during both lower- and higher-speed riding.

The softer shoulder compounds have higher hysteresis characteristics to provide increased grip during cornering and acceleration, particularly when the motorcycle is heavily leaned over or subjected to strong drive forces.

The rear also incorporates a base layer using the same high-performance compound as the shoulders. This helps create a more homogeneous grip profile and maintain consistent performance when the tyre is subjected to high levels of stress.

0° Steel-Belted Construction

Both front and rear SPORTEC™ 01 tyres incorporate a 0° steel belt, helping control tyre deformation consistently across different lean angles.

The front tyre uses two rayon plies combined with the 0° steel belt, providing the support required throughout braking, steering and cornering.

The rear uses a single rayon ply with the 0° steel belt, a construction designed to maximise the contact patch and provide strong support during acceleration, both in a straight line and when driving out of corners.

This carefully tuned construction provides a balance of stiffness and flexibility suited to modern supersport motorcycles while supporting the performance of contemporary electronic rider-control systems.
