The SPORTEC™ 01 RS is engineered to provide a highly responsive riding experience when pushed hard, while remaining suitable for road use.
Its DYNATREAD™ adaptive tread technology changes the effective contact area of the tyre according to the forces being applied. Under heavy braking, the front tread grooves dynamically close to increase the contact patch and improve braking stability. Under acceleration, the rear grooves compress to increase the rubber-to-road contact area, delivering near-slick levels of dry grip.
At lower speeds, the grooves remain open to assist water evacuation and promote rapid warm-up, giving the SPORTEC™ 01 RS versatility beyond the racetrack.
DYNATREAD™ Adaptive Tread Design
Metzeler's patented DYNATREAD™ technology is central to the SPORTEC™ 01 RS's performance.
The tread uses carefully optimised groove geometry with shorter, counter-angled and shallower shoulder grooves. This increases the footprint and lateral grip while reducing warm-up time.
The result is a tyre that can transition towards near-slick behaviour during dry cornering, while retaining the tread required for a street-legal motorcycle tyre.
The SPORTEC™ 01 RS also has a lower void-to-fill ratio than the standard SPORTEC™ 01, putting more rubber in contact with the road for increased dry grip, stability and steering responsiveness.
Racing-Derived Dual-Compound Technology
The SPORTEC™ 01 RS uses an advanced dual-compound configuration at both the front and rear, with different compounds positioned across the centre and shoulder areas to balance road usability with high-performance riding.
Front tyre:

Advanced Structural Design
Metzeler has completely re-engineered the SPORTEC™ 01 RS carcass to improve grip feedback, stability, handling precision and control.
The front tyre replaces the conventional rayon construction with two PET structural layers combined with a 0° steel belt. This construction helps control tyre deformation and increases the contact-patch area, contributing to improved stability and precise feedback.
At the rear, PET is combined with nylon and a 0° steel belt to achieve a balance between grip, agility and stability. The resulting structure is designed to provide precise rider feedback and consistent performance when the tyre is subjected to high loads and aggressive acceleration.
